After graduating with a First Class Honours I entered the big wide world of work. I applied for a range of different Marketing roles but eventually landed at the UKs leading Affiliate Network, Awin. It was here I learned about the Affiliate Channel and its importance to the business. I developed a number of skills at Awin including relationship management, project management and digital strategy. I worked across a number of big clients including EE, Shop Direct and The Hut Group. However working at an Affiliate Network meant I only ever saw the worth of the Affiliate Channel and wasn't given the opportunity to see how it fit within the wider business.
Hence why I moved to Direct Line Group. Direct Line Group's Affiliate Programme was going through a big transformation and was looking to move in house. This gave me the opportunity to use my skills from Network side, while learning how my channel made a wider difference and worked alongside the other marketing channels. My role now gives me the opportunity to work closely with the Biddable Team and Brand Managers to understand the true impact of Affiliate Marketing.
As a regulated company I also work closely with our affiliates to ensure all copy we promote is compliant and therefore not misleading or confusing for the customer.
As well as the day to day management of the programme I help create and execute strategies to grow the programme. The channel is continually adapting and we need to ensure we keep on top of technologies and advancements to create the best programme we can, driving the best value for both Direct Line Group and our partners.
We also work closely with a number of teams around the business to utilise the Affiliate model. Whether that's tracking the performance of certain activities, or providing incentives and rewards to customers or businesses.
I also love that I have the opportunity to work so closely with a number of different affiliates. From previously working Network side relationship management has become a big part of what I do. Working closely with each affiliate to see how we can tailor our offer and message to appeal to their audiences and building different strategies for each partner is a real driver for me.
I also really like my team and the company I work for. We all have each others best interests at heart and support and motivate each other daily. I am always learning from those around me and developing myself and my skills. I love to continually learn and am always given the opportunity to do that here at Direct Line Group.
This development was not only recognised internally with incredible YoY growth and ROI improvements, but we recently won an external award for our affiliate channel, being named Best In Finance at the Performance Marketing Awards, and highly commended for Best Account Team. To be recognised externally for the work we have done to the channel makes me really proud.
