A typical day consists of splitting up Management Information for the File Handlers to see their daily progress on Files, audio typing, responding to Customer emails, ensuring that our office equipment, i.e. printers and photocopier, are working adequately and placing weekly stationery orders.
My support to the staff in the office enables them to do their job to the best of their ability.
As well as my Secretarial role I am also a CSR Representative for DLG Legal Services in Leeds. This involves me liaising with charities in the local community and arranging for my colleagues to go out and complete one day volunteering projects.
Sometimes the progression of their claim isn’t going as the Customer would like, I then have to escalate matters to a higher management level on their behalf.
I have found that by ‘living the values’ it enriches my life and in particular my mental wellbeing, both at home and at work.
I am very proud that I was able to arrange for a team of 11 members of staff to go out and spend a full day with a local community centre. They helped to dig out a large garden area with a view to creating a children’s natural play area. I secured some funding for the project, which DLG paid to the charity. As a result of my contribution I won a ‘Star of the Month’ award.
I continue to arrange the CSR days for our staff, as well as taking part in internal office events such as promoting our nominated charity ‘MIND’ and taking part in the Macmillan Bake Off.
