Key Experiences

From Claims Handler to managing Graduate & Apprentice Recruitment
When DLG divested from RBS I moved from our Claims business area to HR. This was pinnacle to my career progression and allowed me to understand DLG from a different perspective. I originally moved into HR to provide support to our employees and people managers in all aspects of the employee lifecycle. From here I progressed into our DLG recruitment team and started recruiting for all our front line positions. I then progressed to become a Senior Recruitment Consultant before taking over managing all DLG's Graduate and Apprenticeship recruitment. I've now worked at DLG for over 10 years and continue to develop and learn everyday.

Current Position

I manage all DLG's Graduate and Apprentice recruitment.
In my current role my priority is to deliver DLG's required number of Graduates and Apprentices each year. From working with our recruitment marketing team to shape our attraction strategy, to managing candidates through our recruitment process up to the point when they start on their first day. The candidate experience is the heart of everything I do and this year DLG have made it into the top 100 employers for Apprenticeships through RateMyApprenticeship, which is a really proud moment for DLG and myself. As well as recruit, I'm able to continue to evolve our recruitment process by becoming more digital and making the experience for our candidates even better.

Main Motivations

My fantastic team...
Working together is key to succeeding in your role and I'm grateful for the support I have either from my people manager or my team. We have highs and sometimes challenges along the way, but I always know I have the support around me whenever I need it. I wouldn't change my team for the world and always enjoy our social time together as well as time in the workplace. I've made some great friends here that will always be there!

Top Advice

Feed off the talent around you
In DLG there is lots of talent that surrounds you and my main advice would be to make sure you make use of this. Learn from your colleagues and also let them learn from you. You will build better relationships and grow your skills at the same time.

Greatest Achievement

Leading on delivering a video interview solution in recruitment
One of DLG's aims is to become more digital and we decided to trial a video interview solution in our recruitment process. I was chosen to lead on this initiative and was proud to truly make a significant difference to our recruitment process. It really helped me develop my project management skills which will aid me in my progression moving forward, whilst also being made to feel valued and rewarded due to my performance prior to being selected for this.
