Junaid K. asked a question
during the live chat Learn about careers at Direct Line Group and our application process
to Direct Line Group Recruitment Team
Hi Junaid, thanks for the question. Usually it would be after 6 months once probation has been passed then an applicant can apply internal.
Thanks my next question is: do I need special qualifications like CIPD, AAT, etc. for specialist departments such as Accounting, HR, etc.?
Hi Junaid, it depends of the experience and what they are looking for at the time of the positions being available. I can tell you that I started in the customer service role and moved to HR without any qualifications in HR. I spent time building up my recruitment knowledge, getting involved in interviews for consultants and building up my understanding from there. Interviewed and since spent 2 years in HR.
We have team leaders on site who will support you developing yourself to where you want to build your career.
Thanks! While working at DLG, in customer service, is their any opportunities to gain qualifications?
Yes, you work towards being ICS accredited when you first start with us in our sales and customer service positions.
Beyond this I have done customer service level 2 & 3, business administration 3 and now working towards a CIPD with support from my manager. This gives you some idea of the types of support you can gain depending where you want to develop.
Also we have internal online learning platforms
Thanks that's fantastic. Do you have to be working for a certain period of time before you can request for flexible time? As I have hobbies during summer time, I play cricket on Saturday and whenever I get time off.
I'm glad its helped, if you would like to apply please do visit our careers website at www.directlinegroupcareers.com to place an application in.
Have you any further questions at this stage?
Most of our positions are across 7 days, where are you based in the UK?
Some places have positions where you might only work a few weekends
I got a job already and I am starting my training on Monday at Doncaster, where I will be based. I am very nervous about stating my training as this is something I have not done before, can you give me any tips on how to overcome that?
Congratulations on the position, that's fantastic news! You will start out Monday- Friday usually. You will receive a Day email to confirm. In terms of flexible request I would say its a good idea to focus on the training and development within your probation period as its a good time to help develop you within the role to best support our customers. Although you will have a team leader who can support such requests.
I've have been fortunate enough to spend some time in Doncaster and I can say they are a very welcoming team. You will be part of new employees feeling very similar so I would say and I find due to this you form a strong bond and training.
We look to find team from a diverse background so you can really learn from each others experience and help each other grow in the position as each person will have unique experiences and talent they can share with the group.
Thanks you so much for you time and valuable information you have given! I really appreciate that. At this point I don't have any more questions.
I hope its been helpful and we look forward to meeting you Monday. If you want to get in contact with any other questions free to give the office line a call on 0345 877 6309. Otherwise best wishes in the new role :)
Thanks for your wishes, have a nice day!
